Did you know that Florida has many ways to get a discount on your property taxes?? Here are some of the exemptions that Florida has to offer:

Senior Exemption: Seniors that are 65 years and older and who have an adjusted gross income of no more than $32,561 for 2022 can receive an extra $50,000 exemption.

Widow/Widower's Exemption: Any widow or widower who is a permanent Florida resident is able to claim a $500 exemption.

Surviving Spouses of First Responders Spouses of First Responders who perish in the line of duty can be exempt from taxation.

Deployed Military Exemption: Active duty military on return from their deployment need to bring their orders (with the start and end date of the deployment) to the appraiser office and they will be exempt from taxes during those dates.

Parital Veteran Disability Veterans with at least 10% disability get and extra $5,000 exemption.

Total Veteran Disability Veterans with total and permanent disability are exempt from taxation.

Homestead The biggest action you need to take when owning a home in Florida is filing for Homestead! You can't get any of the above mentioned deducations without first filing for homestead. Homestead itself will give you up to a $50,000 exemption.
